Preventing Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition that affects millions of American men. Though it can be embarrassing, ED often isn't indicative of a more serious health problem. If left untreated, however, even minor ED can affect a man's self-esteem and can negatively impact his sex life.

• Avoid illegal drugs, including marijuana.
• Drink alcohol only in moderation.
• Control underlying help conditions that can contribute to ED, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
• If you smoke, stop.
• Learn to manage stress and reduce stress in your everyday life.
• Get plenty of sleep (at least eight hours each night).
• Get regular checkups from your doctor.
